browser.loading.resource_type.freshnessFraction

The fraction of a resource’s age used to calculate the freshness lifetime.

This parameter sets the amount of time the Voice Browser service can reuse the resource from the cache without revalidating it with the server. The resource_type can be context, data, page, or script. The default is 0.10.

The Voice Browser service determines the age using the Date and Last-Modified response headers (or the download date if Date wasn’t specified), then multiplies that interval by the freshness fraction to get the freshness lifetime. The freshness lifetime has a ceiling of 24 hours, set by browser.loading.resource_type.maxFreshnessLifetime.

For example, say the Voice Browser service downloaded and cached a VoiceXML document that last modified 12 days ago. Using the default freshness fraction, the freshness lifetime would be 1.2 days (12 x 0.10). Since that figure is greater than the default maximum, the Voice Browser service will revalidate the document with the server after one day (24 hours).
