Obtaining a license

You must acquire and deploy a Nuance license to enable the roles for the Voice Platform services in Management Station. During the Voice Platform installation, you specify the Management Station you want to use.

When you complete your purchase order, your Nuance contact provides you with a License Authorization Code (LAC). Use the LAC to access the Enterprise Speech Licensing Central website, where you generate your license file.

To obtain a license:

  1. Determine your network architecture to decide where to install Voice Platform.
  2. Open a command-prompt on the License Manager host and run the appropriate command to get the MAC address (physical) of the host:

    • Windows: ipconfig /all

    • Linux: /sbin/ifconfig

  3. Make a note of the MAC address, which you provide when generating your license file.
  4. Go to the Enterprise Speech Licensing Central website: http://licensing.nuance.com.
  5. Click Nuance Licensing.
  6. Click User Guide, on the Nuance Licensing Login page, for instructions on generating your license file.
  7. See the Speech Suite documentation for instructions on replacing license files.

Note: Nuance provides a four-port evaluation license to try the product before purchasing a valid license. Since this is for demo purposes, you can use it with a single host running all NVP components including the Management Station. Start the Management Station and assign one of the 1-port or 4-port roles to the host. Eventually, you must replace the evaluation license with a valid license.
