Hardware requirements
This section lists requirements for development and deployment environments for hosts running Nuance Voice Platform for Speech Suite 11. Nuance Speech Suite products have their own specific hardware requirements, which are available in the Speech Suite documentation.
Processor
Suggested processor requirements for Voice Platform hosts are:
- Minimum: Dual-Core Intel Xeon or Dual-Core AMD Opteron
- Recommended: Dual Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Nuance recommends a more powerful machine for large deployments with high port densities and heavy call volumes.
Development environment
For demos, prototyping, and small deployments (< 46 ports), you can install the Nuance speech software (Nuance Speech Server, Nuance Vocalizer, and Nuance Recognition service), including Management Station, on a single host. Suggested configuration requirements are:
- Minimum Memory: 4 GB
- Storage: Varies according to the port density. The range is between 10 to 40 GB.
Nuance recommends a more powerful machine for large deployments with high port densities, heavy call volumes, or if you plan to also run Dragon Voice components.
Deployment environment
In a deployment environment, you typically run Voice Platform on its own dedicated host or on the same host as the Nuance speech software. Recommended memory and storage guidelines are for hosts performing moderate logging. Any host running Nuance speech software must provision for storing call log files, utterances, and whole-call recordings (if enabled).
Recommended configuration requirements are:
| Memory | Storage |

Nuance recommends additional memory and storage for large deployments with high port density. If memory is too low, Management Station triggers alarms for low memory exceptions. See Voice Browser service OUT_OF_MEMORY exceptions.
