swirec_system_dict_name

Name and location of the system dictionary file.

Value

A file path

Default

(System dictionary provided by Recognizer)

$SWISRSDK/languageCode/dictionary/Basic.dictionary

How to set

In Management Station set on the Nuance recognition service. If not using Management Station, set in a Recognizer configuration file (User-nrsxx.xml).

Usage

Nuance recommends not changing the default because you can specify any needed pronunciations in a user dictionary.

The system dictionary file specifies default pronunciations of words in grammars. For information on how pronunciations are obtained and how to define user dictionaries, see Pronunciation dictionaries.

By default, Recognizer consults user dictionaries before using system dictionaries. If Recognizer finds a pronunciation, it does not load additional pronunciations from the system dictionaries. (In other words, system dictionaries are backup dictionaries.) You can control this behavior by changing the precedence of dictionaries with the SWI.type property (see Changing the default precedence).

Example language codes as used by Recognizer are shown below. Note that these codes use an xx.yy format for the directory paths while the language models themselves use an xx-YY format.

The language codes available for the Recognizer change often, because Nuance adds new languages frequently, and some language packs have additional suffixes (for example, a suffix to indicate a special fluent speech pack).

The most recent languages available for the Recognizer can always be downloaded from Nuance Network at Nuance Network. For a list of the available languages, click the Languages link under the Nuance Recognizer product.
