Configuring watcher and SNMP
Nuance Watcher monitors Nuance services , sends alarms to any third-party SNMP manager you choose, and reports status to the Management Station.
The Speech Suite installer automatically configures and runs one instance of the watcher service on each host. When watchable processes start on that host, they automatically connect to the watcher.
- If using the Management Station—The watchers on automatically connect to Management Station. They get the host configuration from Management Station and cache a local copy (for restarting start services if Management Station fails).
- If you have a third-parth SNMP manager—You can configure the watchers to send traps when Nuance services generate alarms.
If the watcher service terminates abnormally, the failure does not affect online services: they continue to accept and process calls while the operating system automatically restarts the watcher. If you manually stop the watcher service, the services stop gracefully (new calls are rejected, and existing calls continue until completed).
