Creating a project in Mix
This topic describes how to create a Mix project to build a virtual assistant for the Nuance Digital Engagement platform (NDEP).
Create your Mix project
- Log in to Mix.
The Mix home page appears. - At the bottom of the Recent projects list, click Create project.
- Click Create new.
- For each NDEP channel you would like to support, add a custom channel.
Best practice: Add the full set of NDEP standard channels (see Channel strategy). - Click Next.
- Click the desired use case—for example, General.
- Select the desired languages—for example, English (US) (see Language strategy).
- Click Next.
- Enter a name for your project.
- Click Create.
Your new project appears on the Mix dashboard. - Click the Targets tab and verify that all desired channels are listed with the appropriate modalities.
If you realize one or more channels are missing, or you need to add or disable modalities in some channels, see Manage targets.
Add a custom channel
- Click the Add custom channel icon.
A custom channel template appears. - Enter the same name (case-sensitive) as the corresponding NDEP channel—for example, Web.
- Select the appropriate modalities for this channel—for example, Rich Text, Text, and Interactivity are the required modalities for the Web channel.
NDEP standard channels
For every NDEP standard channel, this table shows which modalities to select when you define the corresponding channel in your Mix project.
Channel | Description | Output modalities | Input modalities | Communication mode |
---|---|---|---|---|
ABC | Apple Messages for Business (formerly Apple Business Chat) | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
App | Desktop or mobile app chat interface | Rich Text, TTS | Text, Interactivity | Synchronous or asynchronous |
FB Messenger | Facebook Messenger | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
GBM | Google Business Messages | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
Facebook Instagram | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous | |
Line | LINE | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
SMS | SMS chat | Rich Text | Text | Asynchronous |
Telegram | Telegram | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
Twitter direct messages | Rich Text | Text | Asynchronous | |
Viber | Viber | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
Web | Desktop or mobile web chat interface | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Synchronous or asynchronous |
WhatsApp Messenger | Rich Text | Text, Interactivity | Asynchronous |
Note:
This channel classification doesn’t distinguish desktop web from mobile web applications. If your App or Web integrations require making a distinction between desktop web and mobile web, define a session variable (in both NDEP and Mix.dialog), and have NDEP send it at the start of the conversation, as a workaround. Design your dialog accordingly.Feedback
